Hanley Castle

It is possible to walk to Hanley Castle where you will discover the delights of the Three Kings an unspoilt rural pub which won the accolade of CAMERA National Pub of the year in 1993.

The Three Kings has been run by the same family for nearly a hundred years. The beer is always excellent - Butcombe and Hobson's, with regular guest beers. Prices are considerably lower than average. Food is mostly simple snacks: as the typewritten menu doesn't get revised for years the food prices are also very low.

Upton-Upon-Severn

Upton Jazz Festival - 01684 593254 (26 - 28 June 2009)
Upton Water Festival - 01684 594552 (23 to 25 August 2008)

The historic town of Upton Upon Severn is situated on the River Severn; it has a mix of half timbered and Georgian houses. The ‘Pepper Pot’ houses the Heritage centre; and across the road you will find the Tudor House Museum.

Upton upon Severn also boasts a Mariana where you can hire boats to sail upon the river. Later in August Upton plays host to the Water Festival and culminates in a Massive Fire Work display.

At the end of June each year Upton plays host to a Jazz Festival – acts arrive from all over Europe to play before crowds of up to 15000 people, an event not to be missed.

If on the other hand you are looking forward to a bit of piece and quiet there are numerous foot paths and walks to follow; if you feel particularly inspired you can follow the foot path from Upton all the way to Tewkesbury; personally I would prefer to travel by boat and sample some of the local riverside public houses!

Upton Upon Severn is host to several Festivals; during Spring time we have the Upton Folk Festival normally held over the May Bank holiday; following this we have the World renound Jazz Festival held on the last week end of June and then in high summer we look forward to the Blues Festival held on the 18th & 19th July. To finish off the season there is a grand Water Festival & Fire work display.
